The 2008-2009 school year is the MIT-E Network's 16th year of sharing high school and dual credit college classes among our member institutions. We are a consortium of 17 high schools and Central Methodist University, located throughout Central Missouri. In addition to pooling resources to increase class offerings for member districts, each school has committed to follow a common calendar and bell schedule. This collective effort allows member schools to send and receive high school and dual credit classes through Interactive Television (I-TV,) or videoconferencing, that would not otherwise be available locally. The MIT-E Network is among the most utilized I-TV networks in the state. MIT-E was formed in 1993 and is one of the original I-TV consortiums in Missouri.
Organizationally the network is
composed of three groups: MIT-E North, MIT-E Central, and MIT-E South. Each
group has a board of directors responsible for making decisions for their
schools. Superintendents, principals, counselors, and site
facilitators at each school have a role in making I-TV class offerings successful in their
district.
Technically the network functions as a single entity. MIT-E North, Central,
and South sites can connect with any other school in the network. Member
schools
contribute to a common network staff that is responsible for scheduling,
budgeting, troubleshooting, technical support, and equipment maintenance.
Videoconferencing Rentals Available
The MIT-E Network facilities are available for rental to
non-school organizations. If you require the use of videoconferencing
facilities in Central Missouri, the MIT-E Network offers multiple locations near
Jefferson City, Columbia, Sedalia, and the Boonville/Fayette areas.
Videoconferencing is available across the area, nationally, or globally, depending
on your needs! For system requirements, rental rates, and scheduling
information, contact any MIT-E Network staff member.
